Hyper Insomnia and other kinds of Insomnia

Generally, the condition of insomnia is supposed to be a sign of some major problem in the body or in the mind. But at times sleeplessness itself can be the malady. Broadly, insomnia is of two types acute insomnia and chronic insomnia also known as hyper insomnia. Acute insomnia is caused due to distracters like noise, brightly lit room, extreme heat, extreme cold, illness, and other such reasons, which can be controlled.

Acute insomnia is also found in individuals, who have no fixed timings for sleep, they work in night sifts, or work for long at night. The body's biological clock is thus disturbed and they have sleepless nights. This condition can be cured by eliminating the distracters.

The condition of hyper insomnia is also termed as chronic insomnia and its management and cure is not very easy. Neurological disorder can as well result in hyper insomnia, in most of the cases the cause is diagnosed as a psychological one. The proper diagnosis in hyper insomnia thus requires longer and carefully monitored tests. Hyper insomnia is diagnosed in almost 45% cases of insomnia.

Substance abuse is another major cause of hyper insomnia; substance abuse does not only mean narcotics. General medications like decongestants and antidepressants can as well cause one to have hyper insomnia if used for a prolonged period. Intake of substances like caffeine, physician prescribed steroids, beta-blockers and the withdrawal symptoms of sleeping tablets can cause hyper insomnia.

When one finds symptoms, similar to hyper insomnia instant medical help must be sought. Proper medical intervention can cure this. It is well to remember that this disorder is completely curable given that the patient follows proper life style habits and takes regular medicines administered by their physician.
